Blake joined on a fast-turnaround current affairs single. 3 weeks to prep and film, before a 3 week edit. Surely, impossible? He did a fantastic job, prioritising what was achievable, keeping morale high and simply plugging away. In the event, we produced a cracking show, and long beyond expectation. A fantastic all-rounder who delivered despite highly-stacked odds.

Blake's a superbly creative producer/director with an instinctive feel for the best television and storytelling. He's a self-starter who's skilled in various genres of factual programme-making. He's also a pleasure to work with - flexible, enthusiastic, collaborative and brilliant with people.

Blake did a fantastic job on ‘Britpop: The Music That Changed Britain' for Channel 5 fulfilling a multiplicity of roles, all exceptionally well. As a shooting PD he lit and shot IVs to a DOP standard whilst carrying out lovely, relaxed interviews with Britpop luminaries. In the edit as Edit Producer on Ep 3 he shaped a very strong 90-minute episode, before revealing himself to be a highly competent Avid editor able to finish-off and polish other episodes when they over-ran. He responds to notes constructively and is a pleasure to work with.

Above all his ability to move so seamlessly between roles and carry them out to such a high standard is (in my experience) highly unusual and was of incredible benefit to our production. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Blake.

Blake has exhibited a whole range of skills as Producer/ Director/Camera. As a Director, he has an outstanding ability to create a rapport with those in front of camera. In the series, Firefighters (6 x 30mins, BBC1 Scotland), a diverse range of characters confided in him in an extraordinarily engaging way. He is not a "shooting" Director, but a consummate cameraman with ability, rarely found, to edit in the camera. In Post Production he achieved an excellent balance of live action, jocularity and compassion. Combined with all these attributes, Blake is exceptionally hard working and committed. He could not be recommended highly enough.
